Leaving Certificate & LCA
A two-year practical programme preparing students for adult and working life.
MPETSS is an iPad only school using educational apps together with the creation of curriculum content by our teachers.
Subject choices may vary with each year group. The following subjects are for 5th Leaving Cert 2026/2027:

Leaving Certificate Applied (LCA)
The Leaving Certificate Applied (LCA) is a two year Leaving Certificate available to students who wish to follow a programme with a strong practical and vocational emphasis. It runs alongside the Leaving Certificate Established (LCE) and is currently being offered for Leaving Certificate 2025.
The LCA has three main elements; vocational preparation, vocational education and general education. Other aspects of the programme include developing students’ ability to self-evaluate and reflect.
One of the main differences between the LCE and the LCA is that the student learning is modular and instead of receiving grades for individual subjects, they receive a single award (pass, merit or distinction) based no credits gained over the two year programme.
